APM Test Guide

What is APM?

APM (Actions Per Minute) measures how many correct actions you perform in one minute. It started in RTS games like StarCraft and is still a simple way to train speed and coordination. On Mousebest you can run grid modes (3×3, 4×4, 5×5) or keyboard mode.

Test modes

  • 3×3: highest APM potential, short travel
  • 4×4: balanced speed and precision
  • 5×5: more travel, precision focused
  • Keyboard: Q W E A S D layout

APM rankings (3×3)

  • Beginner: 65–110 APM
  • Skilled: 111–160 APM
  • Expert: 161–199 APM
  • Master: 200+ APM

Larger grids use slightly lower rank thresholds because targets are farther apart.

FAQ

APM Test FAQ

+ What is APM?

APM means Actions Per Minute. It measures how many correct actions you complete in one minute — a classic RTS metric that also trains hand-eye coordination.

+ How is APM calculated?

APM = correct hits ÷ elapsed minutes. Accuracy is hits ÷ total clicks (or key presses). Misses lower accuracy and slow your effective score.

+ Which grid should I use?

3×3 is best for raw speed. 4×4 is balanced. 5×5 needs more travel and precision. Keyboard mode uses Q W E A S D by default.

+ Do scores save?

Yes. Personal bests save in this browser on this device. Clearing site data removes them.

+ What does X2 mean on a square?

The same target was picked again in a row. Hit it once more — it is not a miss.

+ Can I turn sound off?

Yes. Use Sound on/off above the board. Your choice is saved in this browser.
