FAQ
Keyboard Tester FAQ
+ - Which keys can I test?
Letters, numbers, modifiers (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Win), function keys, arrows, and common special keys are all mapped. If a key is not on the layout, it may still update the Last key label when pressed.
+ - Why does nothing light up when I press a key?
Click once on this page so the browser tab has focus, then try again. Some keys are reserved by the browser or OS (for example F5 or Ctrl+R) and may reload the page or trigger a shortcut instead of registering here.
+ - What do the colors mean?
A bright highlight means the key is held down right now. A softer highlight means that key has already been tested during this session.
+ - Does this diagnose a broken keyboard?
It is a quick hardware check, not a full diagnostic. If a key never lights up here but works in other apps, the browser may be blocking it. If it fails everywhere, the switch or keycap may be faulty.
+ - Can I test a laptop keyboard or a tenkeyless layout?
Yes. Press the keys you have. Missing keys on compact layouts simply stay untested - that does not mean they failed.
+ - Does Mousebest store my results?
No. Everything runs in your browser for this session only. Use Reset test to clear highlights and start over.
